“Atlantic Canada” is home to the oldest and the youngest Canadian provinces. Nova Scotia and New Brunswick were instrumental in leading the charge for Canadian confederation in 1867, Prince Edward Island joined just 6 years later, while Newfoundland and Labrador officially became part of Canada in 1949.
Atlantic Canada has a distinct culture that even today has strong Celtic, French and English influences. Collectively over 2 million people live in the region, with Halifax being the largest city in the region.
Historically this region had some of the highest church attendance rates in Canada and while many historic church buildings continue to dot the horizon, the spiritual climate has dramatically shifted. Many denominations have experienced dramatic declines in attendance. However, a new interest in church renewal and church planting is taking root. We celebrate what God is stirring in the region and ask that you stand with these planters in prayer.
